Day 8 November 29th Braintree

Overcast and cool today but largely dry.  It was a day for sorting ourselves out and some visiting.
We had breakfast and then went into Braintree town centre.  We separated, Christine going to the launderette for washing and I went to Specsavers for a hearing test.  Both visits were successful - my hearing examination resulted in no action required and the washing and drying were successfully completed.  We now have clean clothes for the rest of our holiday!

We brought the washing back to the Premier Inn and hung some stuff up to air.  It was now lunch time and we went to Wyevale for a quick bite.  We then found another cardboard box to fill to send a parcel home.  We wrapped the parcel and sent it from the local post office.
aunty Ruby & Christine

Our next appointment was to see my Aunty Ruby again who was 99 in September.  We spent two hours chatting and drinking tea.  She was very lively mentally and the time flew.  I am very annoyed with myself for not getting a better picture of her and Christine together.  I learnt some more of the family history.  She did ask whether we would see her next September and so hopefully I will get a better picture then.  We returned to our room, relaxed a bit and then went again to the local pub for a very good meal.

An enjoyable (objectives achieved) but not too eventful day!
