Day 1 Thursday May 11th St Martin's to Plymouth

Hello everyone, we are starting another expedition and hopefully it will all go fairly smoothly although the start has not gone to plan!  We are on a trip to Iceland - cruising around the perimeter - which we have been looking forward to for a long time and hopefully it will be brilliant when we get there.

Our complications started on Wednesday when we discovered there would be a train strike on Friday which would mean the train we had booked is not running!  The rest of the evening was spent working a way round it.  We found we could get to Plymouth after the Scillonian docked and then get from Plymouth to London on the Friday.  We had planned to stay in Penzance for tonight but decided to book the train to Plymouth which is what we are now on and stay at a Premier Inn in Plymouth.

To start from the beginning of the journey - it was lovely weatherwise when we left Lower Town at 1430.  I took pictures of Round Island and the Rowley Rock but unfortunately the adapter for my camera card is at the bottom of my suitcase and so they will appear tomorrow!  We had a good jetboat journey to St Mary's, met and said goodbye to Heather and Alan and eventually joined the Scillonian III which left at 1630.  The voyage was calm and we arrived on time to catch the 2015 to Plymouth.  The weather has clouded up a bit but we had a nice sunset.

We hope we have a good night and tomorrow we travel to Iceland 😊
