Day 2 March 21st 2019 Penzance to Poole

It was misty and drizzly (typical Cornwall) when we awoke fairly early to start our journey to Poole.  We breakfasted and made our way to the station for a 0900 train.  Alan and Heather came to say goodbye and we wished them well on their holiday.  The train left just about on time and as we travelled through Cornwall the mist thickened and dispersed several times.  It eventually cleared in Devon and from then on it was overcast.  We changed trains for the first time at Exeter and from there we caught our second train to Westbury.  The journey

was smooth and at Westbury we transferred to a train for Southampton.  At Southampton we caught a train which took us westward again and eventually we arrived at Poole at 1545 from our fourth train. These connections had all gone to plan but we were pleased to see the end of the trains!  We took a taxi to the RNLI college which I had discovered did B&B and so we thought we would support them.  We soon checked in and

found our impressive accommodation.  We unpacked a bit, rested, had a cup of tea and then decided to explore the surroundings.  We looked at the RNLI

restaurant dinner menu and immediately booked for our evening meal.  We then did a little wander around the RNLI buildings and the town which we will explore further tomorrow.  It was time to return and get ready for our early meal.  The meal was very good and we may be tempted to return tomorrow.  The harbour looked good in the dark when we returned to our room.  It has

been a good day in that nothing had gone wrong but it was a bit frustrating to have all the train changes but there hopefully will be no more!
