Day 19 February 20th Picton to Nelson

at Picton
Picton harbour
A really glorious day to make our journey to Nelson.  We breakfasted, picked up a hirecar, packed its boot and set off on the Queen Charlotte drive along the north coast of the south island.  If there is a better drive anywhere on the planet than this drive in this weather then I am yet to experience it.  We drove
around coves and bays with beautiful white beaches and the background of lush green hills.  There was little traffic with good viewing points to make the most of the scenery.
I hope you are not too bored with someone else's holiday snaps but we really enthuse over this place.
The road was quite windy and the driving slow which added to the chance of enjoying the landscapes.

We saw some birds nesting on the ground when we went for a walk at Cullen Point - most interesting - we need to identify them.  We now think they are California quails which breed in NZ.
About 230pm we arrived in Nelson and found our
B&B.  We then went for a walk into the town centre and after a freshen up we went for a pub meal.  A really warm beautiful day for us.
