Day 0 Less than 24 hours before we leave home

The packing is just about done!  There have been some keen discussions between us on whether it is necessary to take some clothes but we will experience two very different holidays and we want to be prepared.  Time will tell if we have got it right with enough warm clothes but we have decided that if the worst happens we can always buy something else!

snow on St Martin's in February
Today has been fine on St Martin's and we have doing what we can to prepare the house and garden for our five week absence.  It has not been a very good winter here, with rain, strong winds and even snow on a couple of occasions which has meant progress in the garden has not been good.  But at last we now have potatoes coming through the ground, strawberries in flower and onions sprouting with tomatoes progressing in the greenhouse.  Hopefully spring/summer has arrived. We have made arrangements for Mandy to look after the plants in the greenhouse for the first week and then we are grateful that Colin and Sheila Rowley will kindly look after the house, Button the cat and some of the plants.

We leave tomorrow on a boat from Lower Town at 1330 and then travel on the Scillonian to spend the first night of our holiday in Penzance.
