Day 1 October 8th St Martin's to Penzance

We are off on our travels again
St Michael's Mount
- this time visiting some of the old European Imperial Cities by rail.  Yesterday was a grey, overcast, murky day as we left our home including Button the cat.  We were expecting our friends Colin and Sheila to fly in and house/cat sit but the murkiness was even greater at Lands End with flying being cancelled and they could not arrive until the much better weather of today appeared.  Hopefully they and the cat are now settled happily in our home.

Our journey was quite smooth and we arrived in the growing darkness at Penzance quay.  All three steamship company boats (the Scillonian, Gry Maritha and Mali Rose) were in the docks.  We made our way to Heather and Alan's flat and later settled down for the night.  We woke to a much better, clearer,

sunnier day today and have been able to do some essential appointments - hairdressing and eye tests - before we think about our train journey tomorrow to London.  So far, so good.
