Day 1 April 2nd St Martin's to Penzance

Another year and another adventure for us although not as far or as long as some of our previous holidays.  We are looking forward to our first visit to South Wales and meeting up with our very good friends with their family.  The morning weather was bright and clear but blustery with similar forecast for the rest of the day.  A weather advisory had been given for an uncomfortable sailing and the ship was not bringing any day trippers!  We left St Martin's on a 245 Lower Town jetboat to St Mary's and so we had plenty of time to sort ourselves, the garden and the house out.

The jetboat ride was quick and we were on St Mary's in no time.  Heather and Alan had kindly walked to the quay to greet and wish us bon voyage - good to see them and chat for a few minutes.  We boarded (all done by etickets and QR codes these days) and settled into our favourite seats with a cup of tea.  We were now expecting a bumpy 3 hours but we are both good sailors.  We started the journey a little before time and as we turned into the Atlantic the boat began to move and we were strongly advised not to go on deck and to stay indoors. We duly did this and just read and browsed using the poor wifi we currently have on the Scillonian.  As the journey progressed it did not seem too bad to us and the boat did not slow

We managed a snack and another cup of tea at tea time.  When we were alongside Cornwall I got a couple of photos from the doorway.  We arrived in Penzance on time and some people were definitely pleased to arrive but the crew observed that it was much less rough than yesterday.

We disembarked quickly and soon found our luggage with nothing lost!  We trundled our cases to the nearby Premier Inn and sorted ourselves out.  I watched some tv football including MOTD in which Ipswich recorded a rare win and Newcastle won again.😀.A good end to a day which had probably gone better than expected.
