Day 7 October 14th Vienna to Budapest

A day of transit from the hotel in Vienna which we had enjoyed to the new accommodation in Budapest.  The only minor gripes about the Viennese hotel were its situation being too far for convenience from the city centre, some of the meals were not particularly good and the free wifi was for only one hour per day which was a bit mean in this day and age.  Still nowhere is perfect!  We had time for breakfast and packing and assembled in the lobby at 1020.  We boarded our bus and were soon at the modern railway station for the wait for our train which was leaving at 1140.  We sat and read or wandered around to while away the time.
We boarded, stowed our luggage and settled into our seats for the 3 hour journey.  The surrounding countryside was none too inspiring and so not too many photographs.

We arrived in Budapest on time and were transferred to our hotel (the Continental) by the very capable guide who will be looking after us during our stay.  The hotel has character as it was converted from an old defunct public baths in the Jewish quarter of Budapest.  We soon settled in and went for a wander round the local district which had character but was not too salubrious.  We came back to the room and prepared as we were being taken out for a meal in a local restaurant.  The restaurant building did not look very special but the meal was excellent and everyone enjoyed it.  We sat with different companions at this meal and it was good to get to know new friends.  We eventually returned to the hotel to settle down and prepare for the full day in store around Budapest tomorrow.
