Day 3 February 29th London to Gatwick

current Big Ben
Today in London started drier than
Tower Bridge
yesterday and so we decided to explore more of this part surrounding Victoria.  We went towards the Thames through Pimlico and were going to walk part of the embankment.  As we got towards the river it started to rain and didn't look too promising.  We decided to divert and catch a riverboat to Greenwich which would be dry and fairly interesting.  We caught the boat at Westminster pier, stayed inside
Tower of London
and enjoyed the views of buildings
The Shard
along the way.  Big Ben was still enclosed by scaffolding, and we took about an hour passing other landmarks and listening to the commentary until we reached Greenwich.  We disembarked for about 30 minutes which enabled us to have a brief walk round and then caught the ferry back to Westminster, of course we passed
Greenwich from the Thames
where Matthew Martin and family live when in London!

When we returned to
Cutty Sark
Westminster we caught the tube to Victoria, did a little more shopping and then collected our luggage from the Premier Inn.  We made
the Martins lived somewhere here
our way to the Gatwick Express and had a smooth journey to our Premier Inn in Gatwick.  We settled in, dined in the restaurant and relaxed before our bigger journey of travelling tomorrow.

  1. Rich and I had a day trip to London last week. We also went on a river boat/bus to see the sights and we went up the shard to see the views. Hope you have a good flight tomorrow. Love Carolyn xxx
