Day 14 Napier

A better day today and so a couple of pictures to let you see how well Art Deco Napier looks – it is certainly very different and they have kept the streets attractively to that style.  Something we knew nothing about and were surprised to find – Poirot would be proud of them.

As today was better weather-wise we decided to go for it.  We wanted to go on a trip to the world’s largest gannet colony but the tide times were not right and so a ride into the surrounding country was called for so that we could have a “tramp” which the Kiwis are famous for.  We went by car halfway up Te Mata Peak which is the highest hill round here and is a bit like the Lake District (but drier).  We walked the final bit and were rewarded with some tremendous views of Hawkes Bay and the surrounding hilly terrain.  The pictures show how dry it has been round here for the last two months.

  1. Have you received the e-mail I sent yesterday Feb 5th please? Today Feb 6th I have received two from you with my message and Love Chris and Chris but no text from you.
The architecture of the towns looks good. I guess the scenery would be better if less dry.

  2. Like the architecture of Napier and also the car in the first picture,(is that your hire car?).
Glad to hear and see that your weather has improved as you can now see all that lovely scenery that otherwise would be hidden by low cloud.
