Day 22 Hokitika

We left Christchurch at 8:15 this morning on the TransAlpine Express to Greymouth on the west coast.  Initially we trundled over the Canterbury plains and then climbed into the mountains to the "middle earth" country.  We stopped at Arthur's Pass for a few minutes, went through a very long tunnel and gradually rolled down the other side to the Tasman Sea.  I will let the pictures tell the story.

A fantastic journey and it looked as if we might get some predicted rain but it stayed dry for us all the way.  We finished by picking up another car and travelling to Hokitika where we are staying tonight.
