Day 26 Wanaka

We did not stray far from Wanaka town and the lake today - another perfect day weatherwise with the temperature up to 31 degrees in late afternoon (the late afternoon tends to be the warmest).  We had a quick look round the disappointing shops of the town and then headed for a bay on the lake where we thought we could sunbathe and perhaps swim.  Where we parked was not suitable - very stony - and so we walked for about 40 minutes and then moved to a headland which we felt looked more promising.  We settled down on a small beach, had our picnic and then went for a swim which was very refreshing.
                                                  

After a time we decided to go for a drive on the western side of the lake which we had not previously visited, we saw some different views including one of Mount Aspiring (3027 metres the  peak on the right).
